Fuct Down to the Floor

Since I want big dogs (pair of Dobermans), I decided to rip out all the carpet in my master bedroom. On a trip to Cabo I finally got an idea of what to do with my room and have been chasing a dream since last October. Ancient is the key. I’m not talking about rustic though, cowskin couches, and chandaliers of antlers. I mean castle for my Extreme Ranch Makeover. I talked to some friends and they pointed me to a local tile dealer. As soon as I walked in, I saw my floor. Marble Travertine Antique White, tumbled, honed, not filled in 4 sizes. Its pricey so I spent a few months looking at options, ceramic, porcelain, other natural stone, concrete…

Today I went with the dream floor and am now the proud owner of 800 sqft of my Antique white including some 1×1 mosaic for the shower floor. It just occurred to me last week that all the tiles and technology I looked at was simply trying to duplicate the look of real stone. I just can’t not go with the real deal. I’ll make more money, but not more time and I hate comprosmising on a dream. I’ve really enjoyed re-awakening my interest in designing physically functioning works versus tweaking the software interfaces, strategies, and processes of my daytime gig. My contractor is also a furniture builder so I may be able to design all my bedroom pieces too. Rock!

All I want is a five star hotel-style master bedroom remixing an ancient loop with modern one. How much fun is that?
